Watford Half Marathon 2019 Cancelled

Sorry but in the interest of competitors and officials safety we have had to make the decision to cancel the race, there are still considerable sections of the course with compacted snow/ice and/or water and with the temperature due to drop to -6 this evening and not getting above freezing until after the race has started I’m sure you will understand that we had little option.

Club Announcement – Bill Whitman

It is with great sadness that we learnt that Bill Whitman passed away last week, Bill has been struggling quite badly with alzheimers for about 10 years now and we heard only a month ago that he had developed pancreatic cancer.

Bill was a member of the club in the late 50’s/early 60’s and was part of a very good Junior team that included George Howard who won the Junior National at Parliament Hill, he then left running for quite a few years concentrating on football where he achieved county standard., He returned to running in his early 40’s and was a top veteran for many years, Bill will still hold several O/50 records, 2hrs.43m for the marathon and 56m for 10, a fine athlete and a really nice man.

His funeral is at West Herts Crematorium at 12.00 on Thursday 14th February.
